World Map: Top 5 Countries to visit next

I have a long list of places I want to visit, just as many of you do but I’ve narrowed it down a bit. Below I’ve included my top 5 must-see countries I want to visit and a brief description why. As I mentioned in my About Me post, I have the privilege of calling Hawai’i home. It’s time for me to venture out and see what else is out there.

New Zealand

New Zealand’s native name is Aotearoa, meaning the long white cloud. This island group is located at the southwest corner of the Polynesian triangle. New Zealand has much to offer, like Hollywood’s Hobbiton (I am a Lord of the Rings nerd), natural geothermal hot springs, Glowworm caves, and Queenstown, better known as the adventure capital of the world. Though excursions and sights are a prerequisite, immersing myself in Maori culture is at the top of my list. New Zealand’s north island is abundant with culture, museums, and tours to share its history. If you love to camp and/or hike, then New Zealand is the ultimate destination for you (and me). Every road you find yourself on has a landscape that cannot be described in words, and photos cannot do it justice. The natural beauty of New Zealand will never cease to exist. This destination is must-go for the outdoorsy, adventurous type.

French Polynesia

French Polynesia is commonly known by it’s nickname ‘Tahiti’ (Tahiti is also the name of it’s largest island). French Polynesia is made up of a tremendous number of islands, yet only a few are inhabited. This island paradise is acclaimed for clear waters and coral reefs teeming with sea life. From Borabora to Mo’orea, and all the islands in between, swimming with sharks, stingrays, and various reef fish are quintessential. One thing is for sure, the luxury resorts are fabulous for those who can splurge and enjoy the lagoon with privacy. For others, maybe you want to experience something a bit different like hiking, scuba, or visiting local shops and villages. There are a number of smaller hotels, hostels, and homes to rent while immersing yourself with its culture. This Polynesian paradise has something for everyone.

Japan

Japanese Culture is a fascination. I am in awe by their majestic temples, beautiful natural landscapes, incredible food, and efficient public transportation. The people of Japan are known to be polite, hospitable and very clean. Many say it’s one of the cleanest countries in the world. If that doesn’t sound interesting, perhaps visiting world-famous Tsukiji market, witnessing live fish auctions. Just knowing that all these fish get shipped all over the world is simply remarkable. How about basking in an onsen, taking in the healing properties of the mineral water springs. No matter what interests you about Japan, there is so much history and culture to be appreciated here.

Germany

This amazing country has an endless array of fairy tale castles, quaint German towns and history. There is so much to experience including museums, art galleries, memorials, festivals and more.
